The sixth episode of Spectrum Spotlight! Our guest for this episode was Kim Clairy, an autistic occupational therapist, consult, and author. Her husband was even able to join us for this episode! For this episode, we discussed the relationship between autism, eating disorders, and sensory processing problems as well as ABA, tools to help sensory processing and eating disorders, and Kim's personal journey with autism.
In this episode, we interviewed Dr. Daniel Franklin, founder of Los Angeles-based Franklin Educational Services and author of the best-selling book Helping Your Child with Language-Based Learning Disabilities. We discussed autism and language-based learning disabilities, his book, and the work his organization does.
The fourth episode of Spectrum Spotlight! We will be interviewing Dr. Luke Beardon, the author of Autism in Childhood and Autism in Adults and member of staff in The Autism Centre at Sheffield Hallam University. We will be discussing his book and why he decided to write on autism. We will also be discussing what every new parent with a child on the autism spectrum should know.
For our third episode, we had Dave Finch, a New York Times best-selling author whose work has appeared on Psychology Today, the New York Times, NBC News, and ZOOM Autism Magazine. He is also the cohost the podcast "Uniquely Human" with Dr. Barry Prizant. We discussed his memoir, autism and marriage, and his personal experience with marriage!
Our second episode of the Spectrum Spotlight! For the second episode, we had Dr. Barry Prizant, author of the bestselling book Uniquely Human and cohost of the Uniquely Human Podcast. We discussed his book, what encouraged him to want to write on the book, and what findings surprised him the most when conducting research for his book.
The first episode of Spectrum Spotlight! Our first episode will be with Zhara Astra, a filmmaker and professor at Arizona State University. For our first episode, we will be discussing the diagnostic challenges that many autistic women and girls face and how the diagnostic problem can be solved. We will also be talking about the two films she has produced on autism.
